Changing rooms and locker areas are a nightmare for heating. You’ve got high humidity, drafts, and people who want to feel warm the second they step out of the shower. That’s why we lean on shortwave infrared. Most heaters try to warm up the air, which is a losing battle in a drafty room. Infrared is different. It works more like sunlight—it travels straight to the skin or the surface it hits. You don’t have to wait for the room to heat up. You just feel it. Immediately. The trick to the heat We specifically use shortwave emission because it doesn’t care about air movement. If you have a giant, drafty changing area, a standard heater just wastes energy trying to warm the entire volume of the room. Our arrays target the person, not the ceiling. This means you can keep the equipment small and out of the way, but still deliver a serious punch of heat exactly where people are standing. Dealing with the moisture Water and electricity don’t mix. In a humid locker room, splashes are inevitable, and that’s usually how short circuits happen. To stop that, we build everything to IPX4 standards. In plain English? We seal the chassis and the electrical junctions so water can’t get inside, no matter which way it splashes. We also use gaskets around the heating elements and housings that won’t rust or corrode when things get steamy. One quick heads-up on the electrical side: these lamps pull a lot of current. Make sure your wiring and breakers can handle the peak load. If they aren’t beefy enough, you’re going to trip the system the moment you flip the switch. Getting the installation right These units fit right where a standard electric heater would go, but you can’t just “set it and forget it.” Since the heat is directional, you have to angle the lamps to hit the spot where people actually stand. Just be careful with the placement. If the beam is hitting a plastic fixture or a locker door too closely, it can actually melt or warp the plastic. Find that sweet spot with the mounting height, and your users will be perfectly toasted without any accidents.
