For years, we’ve relied on those standard heat lamps to fix the problem, but they’re honestly kind of a letdown. Lately, there’s been a shift toward high-waterproof infrared systems. It’s not about making the bathroom look fancy—it’s about actually keeping the thing running without it blowing a fuse. The problem with the old lamps Here’s the thing about those traditional lamps: they aren’t great at keeping water out. Bathrooms are humid, steamy, and occasionally involve a stray splash of water. That’s the sweet spot where the unit can handle a bit of shower spray without tripping your breaker. But a word of caution on where you put it. If you’ve got a low PVC ceiling, don’t mount the heater too close. These things get hot—really hot—and you don’t want to warp your ceiling or risk scorching flammable materials. Give it some breathing room. And for peace of mind? Wire it into a dedicated GFCI outlet. That way, if a leak ever does find its way inside, the power cuts off instantly.
